In 1992, the Cigar Boom started to come into play. During the Cigar Boom, demand for Cigars soared way above supply of readily available tobacco. Because of this, Cigar Manufacturers started selling out of their premium cigars leaving the market with inferior quality products. This meant factory seconds, prematurely aged tobacco, short filler, and pressed tobacco, just to name a few of the issues. Not to mention, dozens if not hundreds of cigar manufacturers would start up everyday, competing for their stake in the Boom.
Unfortunately, Premium Cigars had become lost in a sea of inferior product. While there were a few companies that kept up with their consistency, Macanudo stood out as the White Knight. People all across the United States were seeking out Macanudo as the only acceptable option. At one time, yes, they were the best cigar in America. They had built a brand on consistency, and they are still very popular today.
Where does that leave us? Today, we find that more people are smoking Ashton, Arturo Fuente, and Davidoff brands (Avo, Camacho, Griffin). Each of these cigars offers it's own flavor profile while remaining smooth, readily available, and consistent. With the typical cigar smoker enjoying more of a variety and tobacco blending becoming more of an art form, people just want to try different things and explore what's out there.
While we still sell Macanudo, Try an Ashton, Arturo Fuente, or Davidoff. See what else is out there, it could be your next favorite.
